The Slow and Painful Birth of Nehemiah St-Danger

by Nehemiah St-Danger

Jeremy Miller Fuzzy brilliance in glistening audio form. Not usually one for conspiracy theories, nor rock operettas, but this is a bona fide gem. A gem! Favorite track: Nehemiah St-Danger Lost and Alone in a New Paradigm (Venus of the Tumbling Towers).

about

This autobiographical, psychedelic bedroom-operetta in two parts, was first composed to 4-track cassette in the basement of the Harrison Building, downtown Oakland in 2005. The tape recording process was augmented where possible by free, pirated, and open source computer software, as dictated by a budget of $0. Some pieces were composed with the assistance of home-brewed "artificially-sentient" computer programs. These formless robots were also used to generate MIDI data, which was fed into keyboard instruments, and thusly are to be counted as performers on this record.

Some of this material was lightly circulated in 2007 as "Mother's Maiden Name Was Honey." Additional material was recorded in 2008 to refine the thematic content and story.

"The Slow and Painful Birth of Nehemiah St-Danger" is Nehemiah's Post-Consumer Records release. Newer material of his can be found here: saint-danger.bandcamp.com

credits

released September 11, 2012

"Nehemiah St-Danger Lost and Alone in the Desert on Christmas Morning" features violin by Luke Csehak of The Happy Jawbone Family Band.

"Overture to the Rotting Rainbows of Babylon" contains subliminal dream vocals by Reid Davis.

Chris Stroffolino (brilliant rock and roll poet/theorist, quill activist, unsung songwriter and pianist, and former Silver Jew and Continuous Peasant) also makes an accidental cameo in the form of a Todd Rundgren reference at the end of "Blood Mysteriously Manifests Itself in the Yolk."

Thanks to Miller Puckette for the power tools.

Special thanks to Emilina Dissette for the accidental instrument loaners, which inspired and expanded the sonic palette.

Thanks to Fannie St-Danger, Martin Luther Tomorrow, Edward R. Nursingbear, The Dangerettes, Gene V. Baker, Scott Pinkmountain, Arrington de Dionyso, Alexandra Lukens, The Happy Jawbone Family Band, RP5 and Meggie, Amara, Anders, and all the kids over at Birthday Beach, for all being stellar and supportive and loving folks.
